When patients first visit us at Specialty Smiles, one of their first questions is how long their treatment is going to take. And fair enough, people want to know what to expect. They want to be able to plan their lives around it, work it into their schedule and budget, and of course, get a clear idea of when they’ll have the smile they want. When we say that how long Invisalign takes depends on a whole range of factors, people get a little curious, and we’re always happy to walk them through what goes into that timeline. Our treatments for Sleep Apnea help improve breathing during sleep, enhancing overall health and energy. Customized oral appliances offer a comfortable, non-surgical way to reduce snoring and interrupted sleep.
For most of our patients in Miramar the whole process takes anywhere from six months to 18 months, which I know sounds like a pretty big range. But the thing is, orthodontic care just isn’t something that can be rushed or standardized. Everyone’s teeth are a bit different, and they all move at their own pace depending on how much work needs to be done. We’ve had patients who just needed a bit of tweaking and were done in under a year, while others with more serious alignment issues took a bit longer to get to where they wanted to be. Professional Teeth Whitening brightens your smile safely and effectively for a radiant, confident appearance. Our treatments remove deep stains and restore your teeth’s natural brilliance in just one visit.
The biggest factor in how long it’s all going to take is probably how complicated your case is. Somebody with a small gap between their front teeth, for example, will probably get done much faster than someone who’s got a serious overbite or teeth that are rotated at all sorts of funny angles. When you come in for your initial consultation, we do a thorough examination and use all sorts of digital imaging tools to figure out exactly what needs to happen. From there, we can give you a pretty good idea of how long you’re looking at.
At Specialty Smiles, we’ve learned that if patients can just stick to their treatment plan, they’re much more likely to stay on track. To get the best results from Invisalign, you need to be wearing those aligners for at least 20-22 hours a day. We’ve seen people who were super diligent about wearing their aligners finish right on time, or even a bit ahead of schedule, whereas people who tend to leave their aligners in their case instead of on their teeth tend to take longer. Don’t get us wrong, we’re not here to nag anyone, but we do think that consistency is key when it comes to how long Invisalign takes.
Now and then the age of the patient comes into play too. Younger patients, especially teenagers, have teeth that tend to move more easily because their bone structure is still developing. Adults can still get fantastic results, but it can sometimes take a bit longer because adult bone is a bit denser. That being said, we’ve had loads of adult patients in Miramar who’ve completed their treatment in a pretty reasonable timeframe.
We also take a close look at what your specific goals are when planning out your treatment. Some people want a full-on teeth makeover, which naturally takes a bit longer. Others are just looking to address one or two specific issues and are happy to keep things a bit more straightforward. We work with you to figure out what matters most to you and come up with a plan that fits with your expectations.
Throughout the whole process, we schedule regular check-ins to check on your progress. These visits help us make sure everything is still on track, and sometimes we might need to make a few small adjustments to the timeline because of how your teeth are responding. We might need to get some extra aligners ordered if things aren’t moving as planned, or maybe we’ll find out you’re ahead of schedule and we can start moving through the aligners a bit faster.
The good news is that a lot of patients start to notice some pretty big changes within just a few months, even if the overall treatment time is a bit longer. And trust us, it’s a huge motivator when you start getting compliments on your smile before you even finish treatment.
What we want to do is give you a clear idea of what to expect right from the start. When you come in for your consultation at Specialty Smiles, we’ll give you our best estimate of how long we think the whole thing is going to take based on what we’ve seen before. Of course, we can’t give you an exact timeline to the day, but we can give you a pretty solid idea of what to expect. And if you stick to your treatment plan and come in for your scheduled check-ins, you’ll be able to finish as close to the original estimate as possible.
